Wenshan Baozhong Tea
Wenshan Baozhong Tea
Wenshan Baozhong is one of the oldest teas of Taiwan: its production has been already started in the early 1800’s when two brothers brought it to the island. Back then it has been called Paochong, its current name means “Tea wrapped in paper from Wen Mountain” as it has been originally packed and sold this way in the early 19th century.
Pinglin is located at the foot of the Snow Mountains, with Beishi Stream flowing through it. It is a protected water source in northern Taiwan. The tea garden is in a mountainous area above 400 meters above sea level, with a humid and cool climate and fertile soil. The quality of the tea leaves is very good because of the water coming from the Snow Mountains.
Among the tea-producing areas in northern Taiwan, Pinglin has almost the best conditions of climate and water for growing and making tea, which has spawned the fragrant king of lightly fermented oolong tea: Wenshan Baozhong.
The appearance is striped, the color is emerald green, the water color is green with golden yellow, the aroma is fresh fragrant with honey, jasmine and osmanthus taste, sweet and smooth.
