Jhin Hsuan Tea
Jhin Hsuan (Golden Lily) tea is widely grown in Taiwan, and there are also varieties in high mountains, so some people classify it as a kind of Taiwanese high mountain tea. Jhin Hsuan is the name of the tea tree variety, mainly produced in Nantou and Chiayi. After more than 40 years of cultivation by the Taiwan Tea Improvement Farm, it successfully cultivated the twelfth new variety in the 1980s. It was named Taicha No. 12, which is the origin of the scientific name of Jhin Hsuan tea.
By now it has become the most popular one from the official 23 Taiwanese tea certified by the Taiwan Tea Improvement Farm, it is also the second largest variety of tea trees on the island.
Jhin Hsuan tea leaves are thick and tender, green and lustrous in color . From the distance the bushes have some yellowish-green color, the tea soup is also the same color, easy to recognize and distinguish from the others.
Jhin Husan is famous of its naturally milky texture and aftertaste – in Central China there are some fake versions where the tea is steamed with milk, artificially.
